Eligibility Criteria

  • All entries must be submitted via the online entry system. 
     

  • Entry into the competition implies acceptance of the rules.
     

  • Failure to comply with any of the rules may result in disqualification.
     

  • The information provided in the submission must be true and accurate, if we have reason to believe the information provided is untrue we reserve the right to remove the submission from the competition. 
     

  • Nominations for Young Volunteer of the Year are open for those who are 25 or under on 31 December 2023.
     

  • Unless otherwise stated the England Golf Awards 2023 is honouring work done from 1st of January 2023 to the 31st of December 2023 and the entry should reflect that.
     

  • All nominees must be based in England.
     

  • The closing date for nominations is midnight on Sunday 05 November 2023.
     

  • The decision of the judging panel is final.
     

  • The organisers retain the right, within the context of the competition and related promotions, to use the information in the submission including photographs without any payment or fee.  

Club of the Year

 

Entry requirement: Nominated club must be affiliated to England Golf and SafeGolf accredited. 


The nominated club may be a traditional members’ club, a commercial club, a community club and can include activities that have taken place in 2023.

1.    What has this club done to engage with its local community to provide an opportunity for people to learn and play golf in a welcoming and safe environment as well as use the facilities and join in social activities? (200 words maximum)

Club of the Year

County of the Year

 

Entry requirement: Nominated County must be affiliated to England Golf and SafeGolf accredited.

1.    How has this county continually demonstrated support and engagement with its county members, players, and community of golfers? (200 words maximum) 


2.    How has this county gone about supporting playing opportunities at all levels of ability, including the development of new junior and adult golfers? (200 words maximum) 


3.    Can you provide examples of how this county has offered a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive environment adhering to all safeguarding standards, within their championships and all other county activities? (200 words maximum) 


4.    Can you illustrate how this county has supported the introduction of the World Handicapping System through the provision of education and advice to golf clubs? (200 words maximum)

County of the Year

Sustainability Project of the Year

 

Entry requirement: The county, club or facility involved in the project must be affiliated to England Golf and SafeGolf accredited. 


Aim of award: To recognise individuals, golf facilities or organisations that have implemented a successful sustainability project.  


Criteria for nomination: The project can take place over multiple years but must be completed in 2023. It should have carried clear objectives and set targets on how to sustain golf in one or more of the following areas.


•    Environmental: This may have involved reducing the carbon emissions, conserving water, improving waste management, increasing biodiversity and habitat or educating members on environmental issues.

•    Social: This may have involved working with the local community to include them in development projects, reducing inequalities and promoting inclusion, or encouraging local community groups or charities to utilise the golf club for their events.

•    Economic: This may have involved incorporating sustainability into business plans, investing in green technology or renewable energy, or successfully allocating funds towards sustainability focused projects.

Sustainability Project of the Year

Lifetime Service Award

Entry requirement: An individual who has made an exceptional contribution to their golf club(s) or community over 10 years or more. 


Criteria for nomination: The individual’s contributions can be in any capacity including (but not limited to) within a club, community, school or university.  


Their contributions will likely have been largely in a voluntary capacity but may include some paid work. Examples may include (but are not limited to) within club leadership or administration, coaching, competitions, events.

Lifetime Service Award

Volunteer of the Year 

Entry requirement: A person involved in golf volunteer activity during 2023 within their club, county, community, school or university. 


Criteria for nomination:  


•    Someone who has made an exceptional contribution to golf on the course or behind the scenes, helping others to enjoy the game safely.

•    A proactive person who dedicates their time to supporting others in a creative or innovative way.

•    A person who has shown excellent teamwork and leadership qualities with consideration of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Young Volunteer of the Year

 

Entry requirement: All nominees must be aged 25 or under on 31 December 2023   


Criteria for nomination:  
•    A person involved in activities to promote golf for younger people during 2023  
•    Someone who has made an exceptional contribution to golf on or off the course, helping other young people to enjoy the game  
•    A proactive person using their initiative who dedicates their time to supporting others in a creative or innovative way.  
•    The individual’s contributions will have been largely voluntary but might include some paid work. They may show that they have worked as team or led the way as an ambassador. Contributions might include (but are not limited to) as a club volunteer, ambassador, buddy, or junior captain. This could be in any setting including in a club, community, and school.

Participation & Development Coach of the Year

Participation & Development Coach of the Year

Entry requirement: A PGA-accredited coach working within the game in England. 


Criteria for nomination: An individual whose passion, skills and initiatives are inspiring new and existing players and helping them get more from the game.

Women & Girls Trailblazer

 

Entry criteria: This new award category aims to recognise those who have helped to tackle under-representation by providing opportunities for women and girls to take up the game or continue to enjoy the sport. 


Nominations can be for individuals, projects, campaigns, or clubs promoting awareness for women and girls, encouraging engagement or challenging perceptions around females and golf. 


Nomination details: 
1.    Name of individual/s, facilities, or organisation


2.    Explain how this individual, project, campaign, or club has helped engage women and girls within the community through golf participation/activities. Please include any information around the purpose of the project or campaign (200 words maximum)

Entry criteria: This new award category aims to recognise those who have helped to tackle under-representation groups to take up the game or continue to enjoy the sport. 


Nominations can be for individuals, projects, campaigns, or clubs promoting awareness for under-representation, encouraging engagement or challenging perceptions around golf. By under-represented groups could include disabled people, those from an ethnically diverse background, the LGBTQ+ community or those from backgrounds or areas who would not normally access golf.


Nomination details: 
1.    Name of individual/s, facilities, or organisation


2.    Explain how this individual, project or campaign has engaged individuals from under-represented groups within your community. Please include any information around the purpose of the project or campaign (200 words maximum)
